Feng Shui of the month: Wu Xu, Yang Earth Dog. October 2026

The Yanf Earth Dog month goes from the 8th of October to the 6th of November included in the solar calendar.

Here is an analysis of the Chi of this month and my practical advices.

If you are not familiar with the Flying Stars of other names used, please refer to the guide below the monthly article.

Astrological season: We are in the third and last month of the astrological autumn season. This season is made of the Monkey, Rooster and Dog signs.

The Dog is a solid, faithful and reliable sign made mostly of Yang Earth. It also contains Yin Metal and Yin Fire. This Branch is actually the natural end of the Fire cycle that starts in the Tiger and peak with the Horse. As such the Dog is a bookend both to the autumn season and to the cycle of Fire in the Elements.

The Stem of this month is Yang Earth too; found in mountains and large boulders. With Yang Earth over Yang Earth we have this month an image of solidity, reliance but also og obstruction. The full story however is the Fire combination formed by this month’s Dog and this year’s Horse. Fire is reignited when it should go extinct. This can represent a return to hostility but also unexpected negotiations and hope when the situation appeared hopeless. Revelations will abound too. It is a period full of surprises.

Jia Qi (sub-seasons, based on solar terms). They were devised on the Chinese calendar and might resonate a bit less in the Southern hemisphere.

Cold Dew (寒露 – Hán Lù) – October 8 to October 23
This period marks the deepening of autumn as temperatures fall and the dew becomes cold. Yin energy continues to strengthen while Yang retreats, bringing a quality of cooling, contraction, dryness, and preparation for winter.

Frost’s Descent (霜降 – Shuāng Jiàng) – October 23 to November 7
Autumn reaches its final and most concentrated stage. Frost begins to appear, vegetation withers and falls, and the Qi becomes increasingly cold, dry, still, and contracting as Yin approaches its winter dominance.

This month is also when a festival ceebrated across China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Chinese communities through East Asia takes place.

重阳节 — Double Ninth Festival October 18, 2026 — the 9th day of the 9th lunar month

One of the most important traditional festivals of this period is 重阳 (Chóngyáng), the Double Ninth Festival. The number 9 is associated with Yang energy, so having two nines together makes this a particularly Yang day. It is therefore a time to celebrate life, vitality and longevity, at a moment when the natural world is already beginning its transition towards winter.

Traditionally, people would climb mountains or hills, enjoying the higher and more Yang position while admiring the autumn landscape. Chrysanthemums were also celebrated at this time of year, and chrysanthemum wine was traditionally associated with longevity and protection. Another old custom was to carry 茱萸 (zhūyú), the dogwood, believed to help keep negative influences away.

The festival also has a strong connection with ancestors and family. In many places, people visit ancestral graves, while today 重阳节 is also a time to honour and show respect to older generations. As the world is becoming colder and more Yin, this festival celebrates the strength of Yang. It is almost as if nature gives us one last reminder to stay active, connected and full of life before the energy turns inward for winter.

If you want to celebrate in a semi traditional way: go on a hike, drink chrysanthemum tea and go to visit your ancestors graves to pay respect. Celebrate life on that day, the idea is to honour Yang (life) while not forgetting the Yin (ancestors).

Here is the Feng Shui map of this Chinese month, before adding the Flying Stars..

Monthly Feng Shui

This month Northwest is a very sensitive sector, receiving both the Grand duke (= the monthly strongest Chi) and the Robbery Sha. Avoid activating this sector (keep it quiet if possible and don’t leave lights on all the time).

North is already sensitive all this year. The 5 yellow Stars landing there and the monthly 3 killings add to its burden. Avoid activating this sector (keep it quiet if possible and don’t leave lights on all the time).

Northeast is neutral this month.

East is the Peach blossom sector of the month. Spending time over there can benefit your reputation.

Southeast is the best sector of the year. However it is the Month Breaker Chi so do not activate it all the time.

Southwest is the Sky Horse of the month. Spending time over there can fasten up your projects.

All the other sectors are neutral. Now let’s add the Flying Stars to the mix…

The other sectors are neutral. That is, until we take a look at the flying stars of the month…

Flying Stars of the Wu Xu month

This is where the various Flying Stars land this month. On the left is the monthly Star map; the right illustration is monthly and yearly Stars combined.

The prosperous Stars are: 9 and 1 primarily, then 6 and 8

  • The prosperous Star 9 lands in Southeast
  • 1 flies in center
  • The 8 Star flies to East
  • 6 lands in North
  • The negative 5 yellow lands in South

You’ll have noticed that the monthly star repeat the yearly star in each palace this month. This creates some very auspicious combinations.

North has a double 6 that is auspicous. It still however has some of the annual afflictions. You can spend more time there.

Northeast gets a double 4. While 4 is not considered one of the auspicous Stars, a double 4 (sum of 8) is seen as mostly auspicous. You can more spend time in Northeast.

East see a very auspicious 8-8 combination. It however has 2 of the montly afflcitions. You can spend time in East and activate it carefully this month – see my membership.

Southeast benefits from a great 9-9 combo. It is the most auspicius sector of the month. Spend time in Southeast and activate it by keeping a light on over there (unless you know you have a 5 Star here on your plan).

South is a sector badly affected this year. This month is receives the doule whammy of a double 5 yellow star. Some argue that the sum of 10 brings good effects too but best is to not try our luck here. Put some metallic objects in South or use a large windchime with 6 metallic rods. Keep the area quiet and minimise its use if possible. Avoid having lights on too much.

Check the yearly remedies in this sector.

Southwest receives a double 7 that is quarrelsome Keep the area as quiet as possible.

West receives a 3/3 Wood combination, as well as the Grand duke this month. Keep the area as quiet as possible.

Northwest receives a 2/2 Stars combination that is not auspicious. Keep it quiet and don’t let lights on all the time too much in this room.

The centre receives an auspicious 1/1 combination. You can spend more time over there.

To summarise:

  • Southeast is the absolute winner. Spend more time in this area of your home
  • East is good too but careful about to activate it only in specific days and time
  • The centre, North and Northeast are all good sectors to spend time
  • Ideally minimise your time in South, Southwest, West and Northwest. Keep those areas quiet

The flying stars is a numerological system that transcribes some movement of the Chi. So, to be simple; it is a map of the movement of the universal energy and this map is coded through a numerology that gives every star a number attributed to one of the 5 Elements. For example the Star 1 is considered auspicious and is a Water Star 5 is  negative, being linked to illness and calamities and is an Earth Star. The Stars move according to the cosmic flow; they are Stars movement every 2 hours, every day, every month and every year. In this section we are looking at the monthly Stars that have a great influence. The yearly Stars and the auspicious or inauspicious combination they form with the monthly Stars are also analysed and are the basis of the advice I give you in this section.

Keep in mind that your home has its own flying stars, a chart established through the date of construction, renovation or sometimes move-in date. Those stars MUST be analysed and remedied in priority. It is on top of those stars that we use the monthly and yearly stars. Do NOT stimulate for long a room of your home that has the Flying Star 5, outside of 2 hours period I can give you in the Luck boosts. You can use the Luck boosts regardless as they are tapping into a powerful good Chi for the sector during 2 hours. You can contact me for this analysis of your home chart.
