2026 is the Yang Fire Horse year in Chinese astrology. While we welcome another year, it is time to look at its energy and what it can bring to the world. I am Laurent Langlais, astrologer specialised in Bazi and Feng Shui consultant and here are my world predictions for Bing Wu, the Yang Fire Horse year.
First, a reminder. Bazi astrology works with the 5 Elements system rather than planetary influences. Those 5 phases (Wu Xing) are: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. Therefore this astrology does not speak of planets anymore but of primary elemental forces. Each year, month, day and hour are translated into what is called a Pillar made of an energy coming from above, the Heavenly Stem and an terrestrial energy called an Earthy Branch, that you also know as a zodiac sign in Chinese astrology. It is through the dialog and tension of those two types of Chi (universal energy) that we can foresee events. This astrology is otherwise known as Pillars of destiny.
The Elements at work during the Fire Horse year
Each year I therefore start my analysis by evaluating the proportion of Elements at play in the year. For the year 2026 actually starting in February, the Stem is Yang Fire and the Branch/animal/sign is the Horse. As a reminder the Stem is the celestial Chi and the Branch the earthy one. The good news is that there is no conflict between the Stem and the Branch of the year. Both are of Fire nature. The Horse is actually the peak of the Fire Element in Bazi. So we have a year that brings primarily a Yang Fire Chi above and below; which to be simple is the Chi of the Sun. Inside the Horse sign there is hidden Chi (called root or hidden Stem) made of Yin Fire and Yin Earth in lower proportion. The Elements at work this year are therefore: Yang Fire in great proportion, then Yin Fire and finally some Yin Earth.
Here I’d like to remind you of another layer; that is the greater period we are under. Since 2024 we have entered period 9, ruled by the Fire Element. It adds oil on fire, or rather Fire on Fire.This year we therefore have an overly strong Fire by combining the yearly and periodic influences. In my classification of Elements for the Fire Horse year we see that:
- Fire is overly strong. Nothing apparently to control it or tame it.
- Earth is strong, strengthened by all the Fire and presents in the year’s hidden Chi
- Metal is missing and under attack, as it is the Element controlled by Fire. The presence of some hidden Earth brings a little buffer still
- Water is also missing and cannot control Fire.
- Wood is missing and stands no chance, used by all the Fire.
Therefore while Fire is strong, it lacks both its resource Element (Wood) and its wealth Element (Metal) that were present in the Wood Snake year 2025. However Yang Fire can thrive without resource. Here is the Elemental ranking then:

While Fire is linked to joy and optimism in Chinese astrology, too much of a good thing is rarely balanced.
I know that some astrologer takes the first hour of the change of a year as the “date of birth” to establish its chart. I don’t subscribe to this theory, for reasons I have explained in previous articles. Let’s now see those predictions.
Burn baby burn!
Astrologically, this year is therefore hot, hot, hot. What does Yang Fire represents? The sun, quite simply. An energy that gives and sustain life on earth. A celestial body that has been celebrated and worshipped since the dawn of times. When balanced, Fire it is the most positive and ongoing of all the 5 Elements (while they are of course all important).
At a primary level, it is therefore a year that is life giving. The Horse is also the peak of the summer season, the happiest one astrologically. It brings joy and optimism, key Fire emotions. Fire speaks to the heart and amaze the eyes. It brings constant excitement.
A first layer of analysis is that therefore, in theory, it should be a joyful year. A year that gives us some hope for a better future and support humanity. This Horse year is meant to be bold, loud, powerful and possibly a paradigm shift. Yin Fire is also present, which is the Fire of a candle. Ding (Yin Fire) is meant to show the way, to bring light in time of darkness and to bring comfort. The presence of Yin Earth means it’s not just a year bringing bold ideas; but also one during which practical applications of those ideas can change our world.
Some themes I see associated with the year of the Fire Horse are: energy production, spectacular visuals, new technologies, space exploration, travel, entertainment, economic strength, paradigm shift, spirituality/religion. Lets develop.
2026: the trends of the Fire Horse year
The first major domain linked to this year is energy production in all its forms. Fire represents electric, electronics and energy in general. This is one of the major topic of the year: the forms of energy and their future. I am predicting major progresses on a new source of energy; possibly the thorium reactor created by China or another. The optimistic in me would like to think this is the year of an energy revolution with the creation or perfecting of a new energy source that could be a game changer for the future of this planet. Let’s not forget that the power greedy A.I. needs huge resources and endless energy. The irony of pushing the scam of carbon neutrality and the huge power consumption of AI simultaneously is not lost to the discerning minds…Which you are as your read this blog (lol).
The problem remains that energy production is the key to our civilisation future. This year has the astrology potential to revolutionise energy production and this is one of the paradigm shifts I foresee. It would be a game changer. Let’s also keep in mind however that powerful lobbies don’t want to lose their monopoly in this domain and will probably do whatever they can to also stops this from happening. In a perfect world it should be a year during which humanity progress and it might be to a good extent. But hey we are also possibly ruled by a cult of psychopaths working with entities to suck the life out of us so there is that. Just kidding (putting this to improve my incoming social credit score which I suspect won’t be spectacular).
Outside of a new source of energy, solar panels in particular could see a rebirth and become truly ecological. Because currently they are anything but..Nuclear energy is also favoured by the energy of the year, and so is oil. Anyway my first prediction are that major developments in a new source of energy production or advancement in existing tech should be with us during that Fire Horse year. Energy is the hottest topic of the year.
Another area that should be making the news is advancement in superconductors that are defined by speed and energy, all very fiery’s themes linked to this year. As besides energy, another theme of the year is increasing speed: there will be a hunger for going faster in electronics, transports, tech and A.I development. Superconductors companies are definitely some I would bet on for investments on that year (this is not a financial advice still).
What goes fast is also cars and F1. The year should favours this sport and some of those companies; luxury cars and F1 racing should be some hot topics. Ferrari with their love of red fire colour and horse as a logo should be in the spotlight. Note that the F1 movie was a major success last year once Fire returned in the astrology cycle.
The strong Fire also guarantees that economies will be booming and the stock market be strong. I don’t see it as a year of recession, not at all. While the Fire reigns in South and this hemisphere should be favoured, it is also home to the 5 flying star this year that can bring some illnesses in this part of the world. Southeast and to a lesser extent East are however strong sectors this year and I think that SE Asia will in general be doing very well this year.
Which industries will be doing well due to the abundance of Fire? More Fire can favour some Fire related industries but not all. See how an energy revolution this year could be good for some form of energy (the new one) and detrimental to others…A good bet is however that high tech components and supra conductors should do well this year. Planes are also back in the spotlight and it should be a strong year for aviation: Yang Fire is connected to the sky and the Horse create a desire to travel all over.
Of course Fire is a wealth Element of another one which is Water. So while Water is absent this year, it sees an abundance of its wealth Element. That can benefits the Water-related industries strong enough to make money out it, but not all of them. Maritime transport should do well and especially relating to oil transport. Transport in general has a better year, with the flying industry being a hot topic then. Tourism, hospitality, restaurants and catering are however favoured by this year. It is a year when travel, celebrations, spending and fun are pushed forward. Do travel as the year 2029 and 2030 look much more restrictive…
Metal industries might suffer more this year; such as manufacturing. While I don’t foresee a recession at all, some banks might be restructured or in difficulties this year. I however think precious metals will keep ascending as they are literally the wealth of the Fire Element ruling this year and over the period. Crypto will also be a hot topic again but less than precious metals. Western medicine is a field more under attack this year with cuts to be expected. I don’t think it’ll be the year of major breakthrough but we can expect advance around eyes and heart related medicine.
Earth industries receive some support from the Fire but don’t see any wealth – no Water to be seen. They can therefore also experience restructuring or consolidation but it’s unlikely to be a year of massive benefits. The main Earth industries are real estate and insurance that shouldn’t collapse this year, but won’t see a record shattering benefices either. Real estate can actually do well if connected to tourism, travel and luxury.
As for Wood industries, they see their expression Element in term of Fire and also find a bit of wealth/Earth in the year; but there is no support from Water (resource) and Fire is using them. It can be a spectacular year visually for the fashion industry but it shouldn’t be mistaken as a solid foundation for years to come. With the excess of Fire the year is very visual but it’s all about fast consumption rather than long lasting brand customer relationships. The themes of the year are also flashy, speed, visual impact. Expect celebrities and galas to be extravagant. The impact for brands this year is visual rather than in words. Notice how Apple released an orange Iphone 17 in 2025, a year when Fire came back into the astrology cycle…It is a year of bold, flashy, over the top and visual extravaganza. The luxury industry should however do very well as the Yang Fire of the year associates with Yin Metal that represents luxurious items. Luxury and wealth are strong trends for this year. The double edge sword is that during specific months this combination can actually transform the Metal and make it disappear; which in my opinion announce of or more heists targeting jewelleries or historical items, in the vein of the Louvres museum heist of 2025.
Geopolitics for the year of the Horse
The obvious race for more energy and to develop electronic components come to a cost, which is the need for rare minerals and precious metals. This is the reason why Trump wants Greenland and some of the reason why the US will want to “rebuild” Ukraine…And so the race for the soil is definitely a collateral theme for this year, especially with the Fire-Earth connection. The Sun reigning is not the type of Chi associated with modesty; the year is bold, ambitious and yes, aggressive. It can be said that this energy will favours imperialism to some extent. 2026 will be a real test for the astrology of Trump. If his time of birth is accurate, he has a dominant Earth chart in Bazi. In that case he uses Fire an Earth as supportive Elements. This Fire Horse year should therefore give him strength and we could showcase a personality even more unrestrained. If his time of birth is not accurate, his chart might be a strong Earth chart that then dislike Fire. 2026 will give us an answer. One thing for sure is that Fire will push him and he will be even more outrageous or arrogant imho .
While the Yin Wood Snake year 2025 was much more in line with the idea of annexing territories, this Yang Fire Horse year can be an aggressive continuation of the projects initiated last year. Such as the annexation of Greenland.
The problem is that this excess of Fire agitate minds and can trigger imperialistic attitudes, aggressive diplomatic relations, revolts and regime changes. It’s actually the “right” year to overthrow oppressive governments as the Sun Chi can give hopes for better tomorrow. This year has revolutions and coup d’stat written all over. They will appear.

WW3…is postponed
What about the million dollar question: Word War 3? I hope to be the bearer of good news here. Looking at the year the started the previous World Wars: 1914 was a Yang Wood Tiger year and 1939 a Yin Earth Rabbit. BothTiger and Rabbit are Wood signs belonging to the East or Spring season. So the Wood Branches seem to be more indicative of World War, by agitating anger (a liver/wood related energy) and also fuelling ideas about territory expansion (Wood energy). Even more interesting those wars happened into period 3 (1904-1923) and period 4 (1924-1943) both ruled by…The Wood Element. Wood seems to be the key determinant here.
This Wood Element was very much present in 2023, 2024 and less in 2025. It is absent and actually consumed entirely in 2026. So far so good.
That being said, a Tiger year was the start of WW1 and another one was the official start of the Ukrainian-Russian war as 2022 was a Yang Water Tiger year. The unofficial start of the conflict however is 2014, Wood Horse year (Wood is involved again!). As this is one of the conflicts we are told could evolve into a possible WW3, understand that what starts in a Tiger year reaches its maximum during a Horse year. So yes, there is a risk of escalation during this overly strong Fire year that can agitate some minds. Fire remains connected to weapons, especially the Yin Fire present in this year. Still I hope that the benevolent nature of the Yang Fire and the lack of Wood will be enough to cancel it. Furthermore peace negotiations seem to be ongoing.
On that note the problem comes more from Western leaders whom are pushing for a WW3 narrative because they now see it as a solution to their external debt, an agitated population, their ideas on overpopulation and so on…They want a war economy to reset all of this. If a WW3 happens it will be anything but organic. So yes the possibility is not ruled out as a Fire year in a Fire period can be too much Fire that turns into aggression; but it’s still less likely to happen than during a Wood year. The first month of this Horse year that is going to ignite the Fire (Tiger-Horse Fire combo) will tell us where it’s heading actually. I’m confident it’s not happening this year still.
Looking back at history, when do we find another Bing Wu (Yang Fire Horse) year during a Fire period 9? This is the year 1846, that brought the Mexican-American war. So the same type of dynamics can trigger a war but on a smaller scale.
We have a role to play still: not just by refusing to send children to war, but also by raising consciousness of the morphogenic field of the human species. In simpler terms, visualise a world at peace and any tentative of war being deflated. This meditation, as well as since prayers, can turn things around if enough people focus on them. This is how energy also works.
For the rest of geopolitics. note that an overabundance of Fire is not good news for the strength of Metal. The West is more connected to Metal and especially France that is West of the European continent. I therefore expect some social agitation in my home country. In term of Elements, this Fire year favours the Southern hemisphere (Brics, Mercosur) but weakens the West. Western countries are not in the best position to negotiate to their advantage during this year.
